Hi there…I’m truly humbled you’re here.
Actually, I’m quite humbled that I’m here.
I certainly never planned to be! But God has a fascinating—sometimes funny—way of writing beautiful stories for us that are bigger than we are. Stories that slowly unfold over time, requiring us to take a little risk and exercise a whole lot of faith. These are the best stories because their main plot is that God gets all the glory.
I didn’t always dream of writing words, but I think I’ve forever loved them. Audible ones. Written ones. But mostly the spoken ones! (Just ask my parents. Or my husband, my kids…even the nice lady at the grocery store check-out!)
As a kid, I played a lot—with my brother and with my friends. We rode bikes to the corner store for penny candy, swam in each other’s pools, and played hide-and-seek until the streetlights came on at night. I remember them as being good days.
But the best day came when, as a teen, I heard the gospel and learned what Christ’s death on the cross meant for me. That changed everything and all the rest of my days. Not immediately…but gradually. Because, did I fall deeply in love with my Saviour on that day? I wish I had. Did I begin to passionately devour God’s Word from that day forward? I hardly cracked open the cover.
I had a lot to learn.
And I did learn a lot—from the local church I joined where I went to college, but mostly from the man who is now my husband. His passion for God and the gospel, and his love for the Scriptures, were greatly influential in growing my appetite for the life-giving, transformative Word of God and by the time our babies were born and I was entering my early thirties, I couldn’t get enough.
Surprisingly to me, around that time, God placed the seeds of a dream in my heart to write words about Him and His Word; to share with others the incredible treasures of Scripture. So, I wrote them—secretly on my computer, in notebooks, on post-it notes, and in my head. But I had no idea what I would do with them. (Many of those words are still buried on old computers and external hard drives in the basement!)
Eventually, I found myself writing in unplanned ways: Sunday school lessons, school curriculum as I homeschooled our children, and in various other ways and spaces.
Since then, I’ve been asked to write for an Instagram platform, in a Facebook community, and occasionally on a blog. I’ve been invited to speak at Youth events, Women’s retreats, and to teach Bible studies. I’ve even recently had devotionals published by Proverbs 31 Ministries and Club 31 Women.
None of these things have I chased, sought after, or striven for. God has brought every opportunity to me, and each time I have had peace to do so, I have hesitantly and prayerfully answered “yes.”
So, I guess you could say this ministry of offering whatever words God gives me has been received along the way, not achieved. And that fills my heart with peace and gives me confidence in two things: He has authored my story so far, and I can trust Him to pave the path of grace forward however He pleases.
Today, that path has led me here to you…to where what once felt like a dream has become a call. A call to encourage women to share my love for the Word, to equip women (as best as I can!) to dig deep into the truth of Scripture, and to cheer each one on in their journey to deeper faith and an abundant life of flourishing.
So, stay as long as you like. You are loved, safe, and welcome here. It would bring me great joy and be my greatest honour to be a part of your journey and growth.
I’m excited to see how God will have us flourish together!
